Carsten Pieper I really liked his 2019 album I Am Concentric , so I was quick to grab this brand new one when it was released. Again , we have guest appearances by Phil Meadows, sax, and The Tangent's Andi Tillison, keys and vocals.
Really "symphonic" this one... and I have to admit, that the orchestral sounds used are quite convincing which isn't necessairily the case in this kind of projects ;-) Favorite track: The Chiming Of The Almshouse Bell.

We’ve got feelings We’ve got names Got loads of who-knows-what Going on in our brains We’ve got paper And we’ve got ink And all the tech we need To show what we think All for ourselves And we’ve got backups And we’ve got plans We’ve got a wish list And a few demands And we want answers We want them soon And we need action We want the moon All for ourselves But who else is listening out there? I don’t know if I ever thought that this would work In a world where every word is wasted And every standpoint has a polar view And a well-worded rebuttal for anything that’s true You know we have to have the last word True or not All for ourselves Reverse the phase Drown out the noise This is the trademark of our times Drown out the noise Then you’ll be clear A million light years from the other side We’re safe and warm In our anechoic chamber But losing balance As the walls close in We made this framework To block oppression But this one’s private And you can’t come in All for ourselves We’ve got feelings We’ve got names Got loads of who-knows-what Going on in our brains We’ve got paper And we’ve got ink And all the tech we need To show what we think All for ourselves I don’t know if I ever thought that this would work In a world where every word is wasted And every standpoint has a polar view And a well-worded rebuttal for anything that’s true You know we have to have the last word True or not All for ourselves Reverse the phase Drown out the noise This is the trademark of our times Drown out the noise Then you’ll be clear A million light years from the other side You know we have to have the last word All for ourselves.

about

The third album in Guy Hatton's trilogy which started with "Feedback Alley" (2017) and continued with "I Am Concentric" (2019). All the Hatton signature sounds are here: jazz-influenced melodies and harmony, rock rhythms, orchestral colours and Guy's distinctive singing guitar tone. This album brings all of these to a new pinnacle, and also introduces for the first time Andy Tillison's (The Tangent) voice and lyrics alongside his keyboard prowess and Phil Meadows's expressive saxophones. As with the previous albums, the record is intended to play as one continuous programme, without any gaps between songs.
